An Early Resurrection Sunday Blog: He Is Risen—And So We Rest

Easter, or resurrection morning, dawns with a truth so glorious it changes everything: “He is not here, for He has risen, as He said.” (Matthew 28:6)

At the center of the Christian life is not our striving, but Christ’s finished work. The resurrection is not just the victorious conclusion of the cross—it is our assurance that the debt has been paid in full, the grave has been defeated, and we have peace with God.

“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1)

A Rest Bought With Blood

I believe wholeheartedly that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. We do not add to His work; we receive it. And yet how often do we live as if the weight of our sanctification is ours to carry?

The resurrection calls us back—not just to belief, but to rest.

To rest from performing.
To rest from measuring our worth in productivity.
To rest from anxiety over whether we are enough.

We are not. But Christ is.

He lived the righteous life we could not live.
He died the wrath-bearing death we deserved.
And He rose again, securing our adoption, our hope, and our rest.

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

Resurrection Rest in Everyday Life

Resting in Christ doesn’t mean we stop doing good works—but it means we stop believing they earn us anything. Instead, our obedience becomes a joyful response to grace, not a desperate attempt to earn it.

So this Easter, I invite you to do something radical in a world that runs on striving:

💛 Pause.
🕊 Reflect.
✝️ Rest.

Let your heart settle into the unshakeable truth that you are His, and because He lives, you are secure.

Whether you’re caring for your family, preparing a meal, or simply sitting in silence—may your day be marked not just by celebration, but by quiet, soul-deep peace in the risen Christ.

He is risen. He is reigning. And in Him, we truly rest.

With hope,
Harmony
